Description: When I turned off the lights to go to bed, I saw flashing lights in the sky SE of Helena, MT. They looked like airplane lights, but, unlike airplane lights. They moved erratically and did not follow a normal flight pattern. My first thought was that a plane was in trouble. I got out of bed and went to the window to see better, and noticed similar flashing lights farther to the south. My partner also witnessed the lights. To me the lights looked fabricated and not a product of nature, but my partner wondered if they might be some sort of atmospheric phenomenon – like tiny sparks of lightening (although we listened for thunder, but heard none and the sky was mostly clear). The motion seemed to be mostly up and down with a little bit of side to side. The lights moved around and seemed to make very sharp “turns,” but stayed in the same general area and did not get significantly closer, farther, higher or lower during the time we watched them. The lights were bright white with a blueish hue. We watched for about 10 minutes. I went to get my daughter so that she could see the lights and when I returned about 2 minutes later, they were gone. I was made uneasy, almost frightened, by the lights because they were so strange.
MUFON Investigative Notes: This is another “Lights in the Sky” report. The witness did not provide any photos, video clips or other evidence. The lights were at such a distance that it was not possible to see any detail and as a result, they could not be identified.
